More importantly she had to confront the accusation of her employers, that she had overstepped her job description mark.
As for Maurice Teasdale, he found himself up against a cunning criminal. He was determined to capture the man before another person was harmed. He found his dedication to chasing the criminal concerned led him into conflict with his superiors; he was spending too much time away from his duties as the watchdog and controller of terrorist activity in the North West of England. He had to confront a serious career decision. The caution was painful. As with Bernie, he, too, was challenged about his response to his job-description. The suggestion was made to him that he needed to reconsider some of his priorities. How near it was to a caution needed to be assessed and considered carefully.
